Welcome to Silver Donald Cameron’s blog! Dr Cameron is the author of 19 books and of many plays, films, magazine articles, radio and TV scripts. He is currently the host and executive producer of TheGreeninterview.com and of its feature documentary, Green Rights: The Human Right to a Healthy World. In 2019, he was appointed the first Farley Mowat Chair in Environment at Cape Breton University, where he earlier served as professor, dean and writer-in-residence. He currently teaches an on-campus/online course called Green Rights.

We've just posted a new interview with Canadian novelist, poet and farmer Brian Brett which sheds a lot of light on the way Canada’s factory food system leads to deadly crises such as the ongoing XL Foods tainted beef scandal. Five Interviews, Four Days — more details

Great interview yesterday with Hugo Spowers, the moving spirit behind Riversimple — a tiny company that plans to bring the world's first hydrogen-powered car to market in 2014. The company is a little group of valiant and enormously experienced entrepreneurs and engineers based in Ludlow, Shropshire, a gorgeous mediaeval market town in a forgotten corner of England near the Welsh border.

Salmon Pens and Rural Prosperity

What works in rural Nova Scotia — or anywhere else in North America? And who works? And at what?    It seems clear from various conversations people have had with the Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture that the provincial government is traumatized by the issue of rural decline, and is looking for big  employers to take up the slack left by industrial-era enterprises like the pulp mills, fish plants, mines etc.
