Your Right to a Healthy Environment

Date:November 2012
Location:Canada

Dr. David Boyd, activist, legal scholar, author of the magisterial The Environmental Rights Revolution, which assesses the impact of environmental rights in the 177 nations that recognize them and the 16 that do not.

David R. Boyd is a Canadian ecological lawyer and leading environmental expert who is a forceful advocate for the entrenchment of environmental rights in national legal systems. Citing examples from 95 nations, Boyd argues that enshrining the right to a healthy environment in national constitutions can dramatically transform countries’ environmental laws and policies and improve their practices of protecting the environment. Yet a handful of nations, including Canada and the U.S., have no such constitutional protections. Boyd aims to change that.
