Alastair McIntosh

Spirit and Sufficiency, Not Surplus

Date:July 2012
Location:Scotland

Alastair McIntosh, Scottish land reformer, activist, theologian and author (Soil and Soul, Rekindling Community), an authority on human ecology, and on the spiritual basis of social and environmental activism.

As an activist, Alastair McIntosh has saved two critical land masses and sparked radical national land reform via the Scottish Land Reform Act of 2003, with 200 community groups taking control of millions of acres – fully two percent of Scotland’s landmass. He has since become a renowned author, speaker, BBC broadcaster, academic and theologian.

In 1991 McIntosh became a trustee of the campaign that led, in 1997, to the Isle of Eigg gaining independence from landlordism as the island came into community control.
